Zenon Dance Company presents its 28th Spring Season!

“Zenon Dance Company is a regional treasure. Elegant and assured…immensely versatile but inherently comic…intelligent and true.” City Pages
Zenon Dance Company, the modern- and jazz-dance repertory company renowned for its artistic virtuosity, emotional intelligence and inspired excellence, celebrates its 28th Spring Season for two weekends April 22-May 1 at the Ritz Theater.
The program includes the world premiere of New York choreographer Kyle Abraham’s “My Quarreling Heart,” a full company work set to music by Ben Frost and Pan Sonic. Out has called the young African-American dance maker, “The best and brightest creative talent to emerge in New York City in the age of Obama.” Abraham is also featured in the current issue of Dance Magazine, in the article “Taking Off: How Six Choreographers Began Their Journeys.”
This season, Uri Sands, a St. Paul choreographer and the co-founder of TU Dance, creates his second work for Zenon: a duet to music by Bon Iver and Kid Cudie. Stephen Schroeder and Mary Ann Bradley will alternate with Bryan Godbout and Leslie O’Neill during the work’s performance.
Also this season, Twin Cities choreographer Wynn Fricke choreographs her 7th work for Zenon, a women’s duet tentatively titled “My Very Empty Mouth.” Set to music by David Lang, the duet features Tamara Ober (winner of Metro magazine’s 3rd Annual Keeper Awards in January 2011, for “an innovative creative talent”) and Laura Selle Virtucio.
