4 days left..but who is counting?

We have 4 days left before opening night! As of today, it looks like we won’t even step on to the stage until tomorrow if all goes as planned. Doug is building the biggest and most elaborate set we have ever had. He has been going on 3 hours of sleep a night and he has far to go before it’s complete. Just finished the choreography yesterday so now it’s just up to the dancers to try and remember the steps and turn them into something worth watching. They really are so dedicated…it still amazes me every time. Costumes are getting close to being done and Grant has done a wonderful job of adding his flair besides learning the role of Fella. Robert painted an entire wall on stage that’s 30 feet tall and 50 feet wide. Very sweet of him. The theatre is a mess……sawdust and coffee cups everywhere. That’s tech week at The Dolls. A few beer cans too. That’s Robert! Music choices are complete…now we (well, not “we,” but Doug) just has to edit them all into a show disc. The wigs are washed and brushed out…all 17 of them. I will style them, eventually! Not sure when, but styling 60s style hair-do’s is one of the things I enjoy doing. On Sunday when we started to put the show together I realized it was a good show for kids and the whole family. Who knew! Makes me happy though when that happens because I didn’t set out for it to be that…it just ended up that way. Tickets are going fast which makes me so happy…
Well, off to the theatre. Some unexpected events happened last night and I have to find a lighting designer today! I hope all the other holiday shows are open so that one of the few designers we have in town might be free to hop on board with us. Otherwise, maybe I’ll just give everyone in the audience a flashlight…or maybe it would be cool to do the whole show in the dark! The audience will have to trust that what’s going on is really beautiful. That would save time on set finishing too. Stay posted, I’ll keep you updated.
XO, Myron
