Opened the show! Whew!!!

Posted By myron on December 9, 2010

I just looked at my last post and even I got nervous…if anyone is reading my posts you must have been wondering if the show made it to opening night. Yes, indeed…it did.  You would think that after 50 years in the theatre i would know by now that it will come together somehow. In this case it was just plain “hard work, sweat, commitment, friends and faith”. Not in that order. The reviews have been fantastic and that is always a relief. I tend to be the best judge of my own work and I keep my personal opinions to myself but I do care about other peoples reactions because that’s how tickets are sold. As much as I wish people would just come no matter and have their own opinions, I know that’s not how it works.  People like to know if a show is worth the money and the time. So….reviews help (when they are good reviews) ha ha. When they are bad reviews of a show that I personally think was good work then they don’t matter at all.  ha ha! I also love when the dancers and everyone who works so hard for so little get recognized for their work. Actually, that pleases me more than anything. Now, we are on the stretch to Christmas! Before we know it, it will be New Years! Then…rehearsals for the next one. Between you and I, I am getting ideas and excited about Goldilocks and Little Red. I overheard a meeting about Fashion Ball and that was exciting also. The thought of dance, fashion, theatre, cocktails and partying always make me a bit excited. If it turns out to be anything like last year…we are in for the party of the year. Hope to see you there. So…happy holidays, peaceful and joyous New Year and heartfelt thanks for all of your support. P.S. Pulled my hamstring yesterday in class.  OUCH!!! Last time I did that was in 1989. I retired from my dance career. Guess like everything else….when you are in the deepest, darkest most painful part of anything (tech week included) the problems seem to evaporate when the light starts to shine again. So, this time I know better than to even speak of retirement…just a heating pad and time and maybe a little “bitching” about it!  Oh yeah….some FAITH also helps tremendously.    XO, Myron
